Two pedestrians were hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck in downtown Prescott, Ont., on Saturday morning. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the collision at the intersection of King E. Street and Edward Street around 11:50 a.m.
The pickup, which was towing a utility trailer at the time, hit the victims—a man and a woman in their early 20s. The woman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the man had minor injuries. Both were taken to hospital by paramedics. The area remained closed for about three hours for investigation, reopening at 2:50 p.m.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and two counts of driving with a coated windshield. He is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville later this month.
