A 33-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving following a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Guelph. The collision occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and the Hanlon Expressway.

Police say one vehicle had just turned left off the expressway when it was rear-ended by another car. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.

A witness who called 911 reported that the driver of the second vehicle appeared unconscious. Officers broke a window to reach him and reportedly detected the smell of alcohol. The driver was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries and later discharged.

He now faces charges of impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and running a red light.
