A fatal collision involving a vehicle and an SUV occurred Tuesday afternoon on Argyle Street South near Highway 6 in Caledonia, Haldimand County.
The crash happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. Emergency services, including OPP, Haldimand Fire, and EMS, responded to the scene. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.
A passenger in the same vehicle was also critically injured and hospitalized. The SUV driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not released the identities or ages of those involved. Sgt. Ed Sanchuk of the OPP extended condolences to the families and thanked Good Samaritans and emergency responders for their efforts. He urged drivers to respect road closure signs for safety.
The investigation is ongoing, with the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team assisting. Police are asking anyone with dash cam footage or information to contact Haldimand County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Argyle Street South at Highway 6 and Sixth Line remains closed as the investigation continues.
