A Kingston driver faces multiple charges after a series of erratic actions Thursday morning. At around 8:45 a.m., residents reported a driver behaving recklessly near Cataraqui Woods Drive and Bayridge Drive. Witnesses said the driver struck another vehicle at a gas station, sped off, swerved into oncoming traffic, and narrowly missed hitting a child in a crosswalk.

Police located and stopped the driver 15 minutes later near Princess Street and Midland Avenue. Authorities allege the driver was impaired and found cocaine and methamphetamines in the vehicle.

The 33-year-old driver has been charged with impaired driving by drugs, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and two counts of possession of Schedule 1 substances for trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with video footage of the incidents to contact them at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
