A transport trailer crash on Highway 400 in Barrie early Thursday morning caused major traffic delays and sent several people to the hospital. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a northbound tractor-trailer veered through the median and crashed into a southbound ramp between Dunlop and Bayfield Streets.

Nine vehicles were involved in the collision, and three people were taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries. The 35-year-old truck driver was charged with careless driving.

The crash caused significant damage to about 60 meters of the median box beam. Southbound lanes of Highway 400, between Duckworth and Bayfield Streets, were closed for the investigation and cleanup. However, ramps from Bayfield to both north and southbound Highway 400 remained open.

By 11 a.m., all ramps had reopened, but the left lanes in both directions were still closed for guardrail repairs. All lanes were cleared by 1 p.m.
