Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a 67-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a Peel police cruiser in Brampton on Thursday.
The incident occurred around noon near the Highway 410 north off-ramp to Queen Street. According to the SIU, a Peel officer turned right onto Queen Street and struck the cyclist, who was riding west on the south side. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The SIU has assigned investigators, forensic specialists, and a collision reconstructionist to the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.
