Highway 64 remains closed following a serious collision on Wednesday afternoon involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. The crash occurred around 1:40 p.m., and emergency crews responded promptly.
The highway is closed in both directions between Shawn Street and Jean Street. Ontario Provincial Police are investigating with the help of the collision reconstructionist and the traffic collision investigation team to determine the cause.
A detour is available for local traffic only. Motorists can check road conditions and closures by calling 511 or visiting the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario website at 511on.ca.
OPP Const. Rob Lewis confirmed that an air ambulance was called to the scene, but the extent of the injuries is not yet known.
Update – Both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian, a 68-year old and 75-year old respectively, have died from their injuries.
