A fire in Scotland, Ontario, caused an estimated $750,000 in damage on Wednesday afternoon.

Brant County firefighters, OPP officers, and paramedics responded to the blaze around 2:30 p.m. on Maple Avenue, between Norwich Road and Burford-Delhi Townline, where smoke and flames were visible.

Approximately 30 firefighters worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to a nearby outbuilding. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours. OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk urged drivers to respect road closure signs after stopping one motorist who ignored them. He emphasized that closed roads are necessary to ensure the safety of emergency crews and the public.
