Two people on a motorcycle were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a head-on collision near Cornwall on Saturday.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the crash occurred around 4 p.m. on County Road 18, near Chapel Road, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Ottawa. The collision involved the motorcycle and an SUV. Emergency responders, including Ornge Air Ambulance, were called to the scene.
As of Saturday evening, roads in the area remain closed, and police have warned of a “lengthy” closure. The public is urged to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
Update – One of the victims, identified as a 47-year-old man from Martintown, has died from his injuries. The other victim, a 14-year old boy, remains hospitalized in critical condition. On Monday, police announced that the SUV driver, a 30-year-old from La Prairie, Quebec, was arrested and now facing multiple charges.
