Hamilton Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, shortly before 9 p.m., at the intersection of Rymal Road and Fletcher Road.

According to police, a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Rymal Road when it collided with a 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV. The Mazda had been heading westbound on Rymal and was making a left turn onto Fletcher Road at the time of the crash.

The impact left four people injured. The driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries. However, the occupants of the Mazda were more severely affected. The driver was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, while the passenger remains in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the collision and the injuries involved, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities are now working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in reviewing any dashcam footage from passing vehicles or surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses that may have captured the incident.

Update – A 16-year-old driver from Hamilton is facing multiple charges after a high-speed crash last month that resulted in two people sustaining serious injuries. He has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, stunt driving, and speeding. The driver was arrested on July 17 and later released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, with his identity protected.

Additionally, a 17-year-old Mazda driver from Hamilton has been charged for failing to wear a seatbelt, driving with a suspended license, and violating G1 licence conditions by driving without a qualified passenger. The Mazda’s owner, a 31-year-old Hamilton resident, also faces charges for allowing the novice driver to break licence rules, providing false information, and permitting the car to operate without insurance.
