Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating an incident involving a 16-year-old boy who was injured in a hit-and-run collision while reportedly attempting to evade police in Mississauga.

The situation unfolded early Sunday morning in the Port Credit area. Around 1 a.m., bar staff on Lakeshore Boulevard East contacted authorities after an alleged assault by the teen suspect, who fled the scene on foot.

Peel Regional Police located the youth nearby. As he ran across Lakeshore Road East near Helene Street, he was struck by a vehicle whose driver did not stop. The teen was then arrested and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The SIU has assigned a team of three investigators and one forensic specialist to examine the incident.
