A 53-year-old man has died following a fire at the Super 8 motel on Hespeler Road in Cambridge. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.
The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was rushed to a local hospital but later pronounced dead, according to Waterloo Regional Police. The fire, which originated in one of the motel rooms, caused damage, including a broken window on the second floor. The window was boarded up by Monday.
The fire has been classified as accidental, and the Ontario Fire Marshall is overseeing the ongoing investigation.
