Peel Regional Police have arrested over 100 individuals and laid more than 2,000 charges for street racing and other dangerous driving behaviors during a months-long operation dubbed Project ERASE. The enforcement effort targeted “hotspot” areas across the Greater Toronto Area between May and June 2025.
Officers from multiple jurisdictions investigated 684 vehicles, seized nearly 100, and issued more than 2,100 charges, including 86 for stunt driving and 125 for excessive noise. In total, over 130 arrests were made. Deputy Police Chief Marc Andrews emphasized the dangers of street racing, noting that it endangers lives. He reiterated the commitment of Peel Regional Police to tackle hazardous driving behaviors.
In one notable incident on May 17, officers charged a driver with stunt driving after they were caught traveling at 209 km/h. Another incident on May 18 involved a silver vehicle running a red light and colliding with a pickup truck, causing it to flip onto its roof. The driver of the silver vehicle, who had been involved in a street racing event before the crash, was charged with dangerous operation, stunt driving, and racing a motor vehicle.
Deputy Chief Andrews reinforced the department’s zero-tolerance stance on street racing and aggressive driving.
Meanwhile, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) also released their results for a recent safe driving campaign. Between July 13 and 19, they laid over 930 charges for dangerous driving behaviors, with speeding being the top offense. Nineteen commercial vehicles were also removed from the road for various violations.
