A 27-year-old e-bike rider from Seabright has been charged following a collision with an SUV in Kawartha Lakes early Wednesday morning. The crash happened just after 5 a.m. on Emily Park Road, south of Highway 7, as both the SUV and e-bike were heading north.
According to OPP, the e-bike lacked proper lighting at the time of the incident, contributing to the collision. The rider was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for operating a motor-assisted bicycle without adequate lighting.
Police emphasized the importance of visibility and safety gear, especially during low-light hours.
