Northbound lanes of Highway 416 in Ottawa’s south end were closed for about seven hours on Tuesday following a serious single-vehicle crash. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. just north of Roger Stevens Drive.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. While emergency crews were on scene, a secondary two-vehicle collision occurred nearby, prompting Ontario Provincial Police to remind drivers to remain alert when approaching emergency responders.

All lanes were fully reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
