Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire in a three-story mixed-use building in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue East early Thursday morning. The call came in just before 7:30 a.m., reporting smoke filling a hallway. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the third floor.

The building contains apartments above a vacant commercial space formerly occupied by Upwards Art Studio, which relocated to Heritage Place Mall. The fire was quickly contained and is believed to have been caused by a faulty electrical appliance.

No injuries were reported, and the damage is estimated at around $10,000.
