A 35-year-old Guelph man was found lying on the ground after crashing his Toyota Corolla into a concrete culvert at speeds exceeding 100 km/h. Emergency responders were called to Speedvale Avenue West and Lewis Road around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered the heavily damaged vehicle and the driver.

Investigators determined the man was speeding along Speedvale Avenue when he attempted to overtake another vehicle, lost control, and veered off the road. He hit a curb, went into a ditch, and struck the culvert with such force that it cracked.

The driver was taken to the hospital and now faces charges of dangerous driving, stunt driving, and speeding.
