A 35-year-old Markham man was arrested early Thursday after crashing his car into a blocker truck at a police investigation scene on Highway 401 in Clarington.
The OPP had set up the scene on the westbound side near Bennett Road, blocking the left shoulder and lane with police vehicles and an unoccupied blocker truck. The man rear-ended the truck and then tried to flee on foot but was quickly caught by officers.
During the arrest, police found a firearm on the suspect. He has been charged with several firearms-related offences and dangerous driving. The man remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
