A tragic jet ski accident on Lake St. Clair, near Couture Beach in Lakeshore, has left one teen dead and another critically injured. Emergency services were called around 2 p.m. Thursday after a collision involving a single watercraft. With the help of local residents, first responders rescued four girls, aged 15 to 17, from the water.
The 17-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. A 16-year-old girl was transported to a trauma center via airlift, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Two other girls, aged 15 and 17, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Essex County OPP, assisted by several specialized teams, is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Lakeshore OPP.
