Ottawa paramedics reported that one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a house fire in the Glebe on Saturday morning. Fire crews responded to the 100 block of Holmwood Avenue around 10:41 a.m. after receiving reports of heavy smoke inside a single-family home.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the top-floor window and confirmed that smoke had spread to the third floor. A “working fire” was declared, bringing in additional resources. Firefighters quickly initiated an attack and advanced a hose inside the home, finding no one trapped.

The fire was brought under control by 10:56 a.m. and was contained to its area of origin before it could spread further. An Ottawa Fire Services investigator is now working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
