A 47-year-old man in Thunder Bay is facing several driving-related charges after a series of incidents on the morning of August 25 in the city’s north end.
Police were called to the 500 block of Kingsway Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. following reports of a collision involving a pickup truck and two parked vehicles. The truck left the scene before officers arrived. Witnesses suggested the driver may have been impaired, prompting police to search the area.
The vehicle was soon found in a parking lot on Arthur Street West, where the driver was discovered unconscious behind the wheel with the engine still running. Officers noted signs of impairment and spotted drug-related items inside the truck.
The man was taken into custody and brought to the police station, where he refused to provide a blood sample. He now faces multiple charges, including impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to stop after a collision (two counts), driving while prohibited, and refusing to comply with a police demand.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
