A transport truck driver from Ajax is charged with careless driving causing death following a fatal crash near Cornwall, Ontario, last March. The collision on Highway 138 involved a car and two tractor-trailers and resulted in the death of 33-year-old Amanda Maloney from Moose Creek.
The crash occurred between McNeil and Mclean roads, and after an investigation, authorities laid charges against the 50-year-old driver. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 23.
In response to the tragedy, residents of North Stormont have called for enhanced safety measures on Highway 138, with a petition gathering over 7,400 signatures since March.
