Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is seeking witnesses to an incident on August 7, where a cyclist was seriously injured after being hit by an e-bike rider fleeing from police.

The crash occurred around 8:18 p.m. near Carling Avenue and Moodie Drive in Ottawa. Officers had attempted to stop two speeding e-bike riders, who then fled onto a bike path. One of them struck a 28-year-old cyclist, who was later hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Despite the incident occurring on August 7, Ottawa police only reported it to the SIU on August 22. The SIU is asking anyone with information, photos, or video footage to contact their lead investigator by phone or through their official website.
