An 11-year-old child from St. Thomas has been released from the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a school zone on Friday morning. Police were called at 8:40 a.m. to a collision on the city’s south side. The child was assessed at the hospital and cleared before being discharged.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged with careless driving. Police emphasized the importance of slowing down and staying alert in school zones, especially during the busy morning commute. They also noted that efforts to enforce and educate about safety in school and community zones will continue.
