A father from Mississauga, Syed Saeed, took matters into his own hands after his 13-year-old son was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Saeed was frustrated with the slow pace of the police investigation following the September 8 collision, which occurred as his children, aged 13 and 11, were walking to school.

The incident took place at the intersection of Tenth Line West and Perennial Drive when a Toyota Sienna, making a left turn, struck the boy, throwing him several feet before he landed in the crosswalk. The driver briefly slowed down but drove off without stopping.

Though the boy only suffered minor injuries and lost his glasses, Saeed was troubled by the lack of immediate action from the authorities. After providing video footage of the incident, which showed his son being struck by the minivan, Saeed said police seemed to stall due to the absence of a license plate number. He was told to visit a collision center, but the case went nowhere.

Determined to get answers, Saeed began knocking on doors for security footage. With help from friends, he eventually tracked down the driver’s identity and the vehicle involved.

Saeed confronted the driver, capturing the exchange on video, in which the individual admitted to hitting the boy but claimed they left after he indicated he was okay. The driver also stated they had contacted the school to ensure the boy was unharmed.

Saeed later provided this information to the police, who are now investigating the case. No arrests have been made so far, and Peel Regional Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
