A Mississauga man is facing several charges, including racing and impaired driving, after a fatal crash in the Streetsville area on April 1. Peel police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Erin Mills Parkway and Vista Boulevard.
According to police, a blue Mazda 3 sedan was traveling north on Erin Mills when it collided with a silver Jeep Cherokee making a left turn onto Vista. The Mazda then lost control and struck a pole. The driver and his 20-year-old male passenger, also from Mississauga, were both seriously injured. The passenger later died from his injuries.
Police indicated that the speed of the Mazda was a major contributing factor to the crash. Investigators identified the driver as 22-year-old Armaan Gill, who now faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death (due to drugs), racing a motor vehicle, speeding (140 km/h in a 70 km/h zone), and stunt driving, among others.
The charges are yet to be proven in court.
