Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several collisions across southwestern Ontario on Monday morning, keeping emergency responders busy in Puslinch, Wellington, Norfolk County, and surrounding areas.
One significant incident occurred on Highway 401 near Highway 6 South in Puslinch, where two commercial vehicles collided. A box truck went off the road, rolling into the westbound ditch and trapping the driver inside. Firefighters were able to extricate the driver, who was then transported to the hospital with serious injuries. By 2 p.m., the westbound lanes of Highway 401 were reopened.
Closer to Guelph, another two-vehicle crash shut down Wellington Road 124 between Fife Road and Whitelaw Road in both directions. Details on injuries have not been released, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
Further east, outside Six Nations, two sedans collided at Concession 2 Townsend and Villa Nova Road around 10 a.m. A passenger in one of the vehicles sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a trauma center. Both drivers were unharmed. As of noon, Concession 2 Townsend was closed between Cockshutt Road and Indian Line, and Villa Nova Road was shut down between Concession 3 Townsend and Indian Line.
OPP continue to investigate these incidents, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes where closures are in effect.
