A fatal collision on Walpole Island First Nation has claimed the life of a 22-year-old pedestrian from Wallaceburg. The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Saturday along Tecumseh Road, between Chiefs Road and Aquash Lane.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead.
A 25-year-old resident of Walpole Island First Nation was arrested at the scene and now faces multiple serious charges, including impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, impaired driving causing death, failing to remain at the scene of a fatal collision, dangerous driving causing death, and driving while under suspension.
Tecumseh Road was closed for several hours to allow for a thorough investigation and has since reopened.
