A 42-year-old man died Thursday morning after being trapped underneath an excavator at a job site in Hanmer.
Greater Sudbury police were called to the scene on Dominion Drive at 8:15 a.m., where they found that a contract worker had become trapped beneath the heavy equipment. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name is being withheld at the request of his family. The police expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Multiple agencies, including the police traffic unit, criminal investigators, the coroner’s office, and the Ministry of Labour, are involved in the ongoing investigation.
