A two-alarm fire in North York on Thursday afternoon spread to two homes, though no one was injured.
Emergency crews responded to the blaze at 10 Gleneagle Crescent, near Highway 404 and Sheppard Avenue, shortly after 1 p.m. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke and a car fully engulfed in flames in the garage. The fire quickly spread to the neighboring home at 12 Gleneagle Crescent.
Toronto Fire officials believe the fire started in the carport between the two houses. Acting Division Commander Robert Hewson explained that the intense flames began to affect the second house, igniting it as well.
Both homes were evacuated safely by two residents from one house and one from the other. However, a pet was found dead in one of the homes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
