A fire early Sunday morning caused significant damage to several properties on Mooregate Crescent in Kitchener.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Hazelglen Drive around 1:20 a.m. and found that the fire had affected three semi-detached homes at 126, 128, and 132 Mooregate Crescent, with the most damage concentrated at the back of 128.
Neighbours reported that the fire burned for several hours before firefighters were able to bring it under control. Multiple homes, including those directly impacted, were evacuated, and several residents were displaced, though the exact number has not been confirmed.
The estimated damage is around $600,000. Kitchener Fire has since deemed the cause of the fire accidental, and crews remained on-site overnight to continue their investigation.
