A 21-year-old woman is facing charges after a dispute in North Bay escalated into a serious incident involving a vehicle on Sunday night.
Police responded around 10:09 p.m. to the intersection of Algonquin Avenue and McKeown Avenue, where a pedestrian was intentionally struck by a car.
Investigators determined that the incident followed a verbal altercation between the two individuals, who are known to each other. After the dispute, the accused drove away but was followed by the victim in another vehicle.
When the victim exited their vehicle at the intersection to approach the suspect’s car, the suspect allegedly drove forward and hit the victim. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.
The accused has been charged with assault with a weapon and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Police are not releasing her name to protect the identity of the victim.
