A serious two-vehicle crash in Wellesley Township on Friday afternoon has left two drivers and three children with serious injuries. The collision occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Ament Line, near Lavery Road, when a Dodge van and a Chrysler sedan collided.

The 62-year-old man driving the van, from Woolwich, and the 79-year-old woman behind the wheel of the sedan, from Perth County, were both taken to out-of-region hospitals with severe injuries. Three children, aged 10, 12, and 14, who were passengers in the sedan, also sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.

The Waterloo Regional Police’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating the incident. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the area to come forward and contact police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8856.

Update – One of the children, a 10-year-old boy, has died.
