A 25-year-old driver was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after crashing into a stop light, a hydro pole, and ultimately the front of a home on Adelaide Street South.
The single-vehicle crash caused a power outage in the area around Hamilton Road, with several blocks of Adelaide Street also closed off.
Fire crews worked at the scene with live wires hanging onto the road and sidewalk, following the snapping of the hydro line. Some residents were advised to shelter in place while crews worked to secure the area.
At the time of the report, the cause of the crash and whether police were investigating had not yet been confirmed.
Update – The driver faces multiple charges, including impaired driving.
