An impaired driver was arrested after a crash near Toronto Waterfront on Sunday morning left two people injured. Toronto police responded to reports at around 9:37 a.m. of a pedestrian and cyclist being struck by a vehicle at Lower Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay West. It was later clarified that the cyclist was actually riding an e-scooter.
One victim was transported to a trauma center, while the other was treated at the scene, with both suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was arrested on-site for impaired driving.
As a result of the investigation, Lower Spadina Avenue is closed in both directions at Lake Shore Boulevard, and the intersection of Lower Spadina and Queens Quay is also blocked. Drivers are being advised to expect delays and use alternate routes.
