Two elderly motorcyclists have died following a crash in Haliburton County on Sunday afternoon. Haliburton Highlands OPP reported the incident at around 12:10 p.m., which occurred on Highway 118 in Algonquin Highlands, south of Beech Lake, near Whiskey Jack Lane.

The collision involved a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer, and the truck caught fire, requiring firefighting efforts to extinguish the blaze. The victims, a 64-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 118 was closed for several hours between 25th Line and Tulip Road, covering nearly five kilometers, as the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (TIME) conducted their investigation. The OPP is asking witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to contact the Haliburton Highlands OPP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
