Four teenagers were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning in North Dumfries, prompting an ongoing investigation by Waterloo Regional Police.

The collision occurred around 12:35 a.m. on Clyde Road near Clydebank Drive when a 15-year-old girl from Cambridge, who was driving the vehicle, lost control and struck a hydro pole. She and three passengers—all under the age of 16—were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say none of the teens would have held a valid driver’s licence and are looking into several possible factors, including speed and impairment. No charges have been laid yet, but officers are examining potential Criminal Code offences related to dangerous driving and operating a vehicle without a licence.

The crash led to a road closure between Village Road and Clydebank Drive for several hours as crews conducted hydro repairs and investigated the scene. About 58 customers experienced a power outage, with service expected to be restored by 2 p.m., according to GrandBridge Energy.

Two of the injured teens are connected to the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, which is offering support through school staff and social workers.

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.

Update – On October 30, Waterloo police says charges have been laid on a 15-year-old girl from Cambridge, who is determined to be the driver of the vehicle. The charges include three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving without a licence, stunt driving, and speeding.
