A Guelph man is facing impaired driving charges after a crash early Friday morning that left a woman with serious injuries. Emergency crews were called to the scene at Wellington Street West and Bristol Street just before 12:30 a.m. when a motorist lost control and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with another vehicle.
The woman driving the second car suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to a Hamilton trauma center. The driver of the at-fault vehicle fled on foot but was found and arrested nearly two hours later. Police say tests revealed he had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
The 28-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving, careless driving causing bodily harm, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. His license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
