Windsor police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Sunday night in the city’s west end. Officers responded to the scene on Sandwich Street shortly after 8 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that the pedestrian, a 62-year-old man, was crossing mid-block when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused him to be thrown into the opposite lane, where a second vehicle hit him. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to his injuries.
Both drivers remained at the scene, and the area, which had been closed between Mill Street and Detroit Street for several hours, has since reopened.
