A townhouse fire early Monday morning in Cambridge caused over $800,000 in damage but resulted in no serious injuries. Emergency crews were called to Fairgreen Close around 1 a.m., where they encountered heavy flames coming from the garage of one unit. Five fire stations responded to contain the blaze, which was limited to the affected home.
All four residents safely escaped, with one person sustaining minor burns. An infant was evaluated on scene and deemed stable, while a few nearby residents received care from paramedics but did not require hospitalization.
The fire, believed to have started inside the home, is not considered suspicious. The Fire Prevention Unit remains on site to determine the exact cause. Smoke alarms in the home were functioning properly.
Neighbours quickly stepped in to help. One local resident, Jordan Snow, and his mother took in children from the affected family, providing them with clothing, blankets, and food. Snow emphasized the importance of community support during difficult times. His mother has since launched a fundraising campaign on Facebook to assist the displaced family.
