An aggressive dog in Dundalk was shot by an OPP officer after it bit a child and attempted to attack another on Wednesday morning. Police were called to Russell Street at 8:41 a.m. following reports of an unrestrained dog.
The dog’s owner was present and tried to restrain the animal but was unsuccessful. During the incident, an officer was also bitten while attempting to intervene. Due to the threat to public safety, the officer was forced to shoot the dog. It was later euthanized.
All those injured, including the officer and the child, received medical attention for what were described as minor injuries. Police are reminding the public to report aggressive or dangerous animals immediately and avoid engaging with them.
