Four individuals were arrested following a collision on Highway 404 linked to a jewelry store robbery at Newmarket’s Upper Canada Mall on Wednesday afternoon. Police received a report shortly before 5:30 p.m. about the robbery, during which five suspects entered the store and stole an unknown amount of merchandise, pepper-spraying two people in the process.
After fleeing the mall, the suspects’ vehicle was pursued by York Regional Police to Highway 404 near Steeles Avenue East. A three-vehicle collision occurred on the southbound lanes around 5:45 p.m., involving the stolen vehicle. Four suspects were taken into custody, while one remains at large.
