A 38-year-old North Bay man on probation is facing 17 drug and weapons-related charges after a police pursuit on October 22.

Around 2 p.m., officers attempted to stop the suspect on Highway 17 west of North Bay during an ongoing investigation. He allegedly ignored police orders, colliding with a stationary OPP cruiser before being seen driving recklessly through a hospital parking lot and again on Highway 11.

The vehicle was later found damaged on Tomiko Lake Road in Merrick Township, where the driver reportedly tried to flee but was arrested. A search uncovered suspected crystal methamphetamine, clonazepam pills, brass knuckles, bear spray, cash, and drug trafficking materials.

Charges include dangerous driving, fleeing and obstructing police, several weapons offences, drug trafficking, probation violations, and possession of property obtained by crime. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in North Bay court on October 29.
