Highway 401 express lanes near Winston Churchill Boulevard in Mississauga have reopened after being closed early Friday due to a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the collision began when a small passenger vehicle struck a barrier dividing the collector and express lanes, ricocheted into the express lanes, and collided with a tractor-trailer. The impact caused the truck to hit a concrete median, scattering debris across the roadway.

The 45-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle suffered minor injuries and has been charged with careless driving. While the collector lanes stayed open, express lanes were shut down for cleanup and reopened around 9:30 a.m.
