A 23-year-old e-bike rider is in hospital after being struck by a minivan in Kitchener on Friday evening, according to Waterloo Regional Police.

The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Cedar Street South and Church Street. The cyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital outside the region for treatment.

Police said the 66-year-old driver of the minivan was not injured. The intersection remained closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to contact police.
