A 99-year-old woman has died following a highrise fire in Brampton, according to Peel paramedics.
The blaze broke out on the 14th floor of an apartment building on Hanover Road, near Queen Street and Central Park Drive. Police say the woman was found inside her unit without vital signs, and despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation, though police are examining whether cooking may have been a factor.
