A 40-year-old Moosonee woman is facing several charges after police linked her to a stolen pickup truck and suspected impaired driving.
The incident began around 11 a.m. on November 9, when Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. Soon after, officers were alerted that a pickup truck had gone into a ditch on Wavey Crescent. A short time later, police located a truck matching the description on Quarry Road and conducted a traffic stop.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined she was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. She was taken into custody for further testing at the Moosonee OPP detachment.
The woman has been charged with motor vehicle theft, impaired driving, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 6.
