A 62-year-old man from Clarington has died following a single-vehicle crash Sunday night.

Police say the collision happened around 9:20 p.m. near Newtonville Road and Clarington Concession 4. A northbound sedan reportedly went out of control and veered into a creek.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 56-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
