Two people were killed in a crash in Beaverton on Wednesday night. The collision happened around 8 p.m. on Regional Road 15, between Simcoe Street and Thorah Side Road.
Police say a tractor trailer was backing into a private driveway with its trailer stretched across the road when an eastbound Toyota SUV struck it. The SUV had three occupants. The 72-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and was later transferred to a trauma centre.
An 88-year-old male passenger was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries. A 71-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 44-year-old truck driver stayed at the location and was not physically injured. The investigation is ongoing.
