A tractor-trailer rollover early Thursday morning shut down part of the Red Hill Valley Parkway in Hamilton for most of the day.
Police were called just after 12:30 a.m. to a northbound transport truck that had overturned between Greenhill Avenue and King Street E. The crash sent several large steel coils onto the roadway, blocking multiple lanes and creating a major hazard.
While southbound lanes stayed open, northbound lanes from Mud Street to King Street E. remained closed until early evening as crews cleared debris and repaired the damage.
About 90 metres of guardrail were destroyed, and debris from the truck and guardrail was spread across the northbound side, contributing to the lengthy cleanup.
